Reading Assignment

  • Choose a book that interests you. If you are looking for recommendations, please see the list of engaging titles is provided below.
  • Read your book.
  • Share your book through an expressive platform (refer to step 4) where you discuss/demonstrate at least one of the following ideas: 
    • How the book inspires you.
    • How the book brings people together.
    • A message from the book that can help to make a difference in the world.
    • How you connect personally to the book.
  • Choose a platform below to express your idea. Examples include but are not limited to:
    • Create a 60-second video
    • Create a 60-second TikTok or skit
    • Write a brief poem or song
    • Write a news article
    • Create a piece of art or visual representation
    • Create a photo and/or quote collage
    • Or a platform of your choice

Summer Reading Book Talk

A book talk is when people come together to discuss literature.  Jr./Sr. High School teachers and administrators will host two book talks where all students are invited to come together virtually to discuss their books and the messages portrayed through different pieces of literature.

  • Where: Zoom (A link will be sent to student email addresses and posted on the school website)
  • When: Wednesday, July 22 and Wednesday, August 12.
    Time: 11 a.m. – 12 p.m.

You do not need to have finished your book to participate in the book talk!
