The Watervliet Elementary School Band Student of the Month recognizes one 4th grade and one 5th grade band student who exemplifies commitment, hard work and dedication in the pursuit of excellence on their respective band instruments. A Band Student of the Month practices their instrument regularly outside of band class and is a leader within their section and the band. These students come to class with a positive attitude and attack each new challenge head on, often seeking out additional music outside of the band curriculum to keep them motivated in their quest as budding young musicians.
Band Students of the Month for January 2022 are: Mariah Simms, grade 4 (Baritone); and Isabela Medina, grade 5 (Flute).
Band Students of the Month for February 2022 are: Yarlene Contreras Pena, grade 4 (Percussion); and Malachi Prince, grade 5 (Trombone).
