Throughout the school year, Watervliet Athletics will feature student athletes who demonstrate exemplary achievement in their respective sports.
Student athletes are recognized for demonstrating good sportsmanship throughout their respective sports seasons. Nominated by their coaches, our Athletes of the Month for November are — Maylee Rodriguez, Brody Wallas and Aundru Woods. Congratulations!
Varsity Indoor Track and Field Coach Tyler Ronan proudly nominated two exceptional student-athletes in recognition of their remarkable skills, dedication, and outstanding accomplishments.
Girls Indoor Track and Field: Maylee Rodriguez
“Maylee was recently named captain of the girls team for her commitment and leadership qualities. She is member of the girls 4×200 meter relay that broke the school record at the CNY Holiday Classic. Maylee also set the indoor school record for girls long jump, and hit the standard for the State Qualifier Meet in triple jump.” — Coach Ronan
Boys Indoor Track and Field: Brody Wallas
“Brody has been very diligent in the last month with working on improving his skills in his events. Brody set the school record in Boys Pole Vault, and has since broken in twice! Additionally, Brody is a member of the boys 4×400 meter relay that recently qualified for the State Qualifier Meet.” — Coach Ronan
Varsity Boys Basketball: Aundru Woods
Varsity boys basketball coach Mark Fruscio describes Aundru as a model student who continues to advance his skills on the court.
“Aundru is a model student at Watervliet. He is always on time to school and teachers consistently praise him for his behavior and effort. On the court, he is getting better everyday and really has been an anchor on the defensive end of the floor.” — Coach Fruscio
