Watervliet Jr./Sr. High School practiced a lockdown drill this afternoon, Monday, Nov. 5. The building went into lockdown at approximately 1:00 p.m. The drill concluded about 20 minutes later. Watervliet Elementary School practiced lockout procedures at the same time.
New York requires that school officials conduct drills to practice safety and security procedures in the event of a threatening incident in or around the building. Students and staff are instructed to clear hallways, lock doors and stay out of sight until law enforcement arrives and provides the all clear.
Following today’s drill, students and staff continued with the normal class schedule. Thanks to the Watervliet Police Department for assisting with the drill.
If you have any questions about safety drills or procedures, please contact your child’s building principal.
