Summer learning and enrichment is underway at Watervliet schools! The kindergarten through 6th grade ExTRA Summer Academy engages students not only in reading and mathematics, but also provides opportunities for students to be creative in art classes and stay physically active with physical education games.
There are a few different junior high summer programs that allow our grades 7-8 students to put their teamwork and critical thinking skills to the test this summer as they work to solve problems and explore various learning opportunities. Our 7th grade transition program is dedicated to building skills for success as these incoming 7th grade students move from the elementary school to the junior/senior high school.
The ExTRA Travel program includes roughly 12 field trips throughout the Capital Region to establish real world, hands-on learning opportunities for students. These students will travel to sites like the New York State Military Museum, Saratoga Battlefield, Dyken Pond and the Tech Valley Center for Gravity in Troy.

These grant funded learning programs align with our summer meals program to provide all students with free breakfast and lunch. Our goal is to keep students active, learning and growing this summer! The ExTRA Summer Academy runs Monday through Friday from July 8 through August 9.
