Opportunities for additional academic support and enrichment resumes October 12
The Watervliet City School District will provide after-school academic support during the 2021-22 school year as well as a variety of after-school enrichment opportunities for students thanks to a grant from the state.
The New York State Education Department awarded a second round of funding from its Extended School Day/School Violence Prevention Program to the district. The renewal of this grant will allow the district to continue our Extended Time Raises Achievement (ExTRA) program for the next five years. ExTRA provides additional academic support during the school year and summer learning programs to build upon and improve student learning in literacy and math.
The ExTRA program is set to begin Tuesday, Oct. 12, and offers before- and after-school enrichment opportunities and activities for students in kindergarten through grade 12. In addition to homework help and study tables, before- and after-school activities will include intramural sports, game club, drama club, art club, book club, Lego club and more. Information and permission slips were emailed to Watervliet families. View information about the K-5 ExTRA Program ❙ View information about the 6-12 ExTRA Program
