September Students of the Month recognized

Twelve students were recognized by their peers and Junior High teachers and staff during the first Cannoneer Culture Student of the Month assembly of the school year on Oct. 18.

The students received roaring applause as they accepted their award certificates and “Cannoneer Culture / Student of the Month” bracelets. The students will also enjoy a special lunch with Assistant Principal Michael Foust, courtesy of The Black Bear.

Each month, teachers and staff nominate a total of 12 students, one per grade level, who embody the following four Cannoneer Culture traits, which align with Board of Education goals.

  • Being Present: I will be on time and prepared for school every day that I am able.
  • Being Positive: I will respect myself and all other members of the Watervliet community.
  • Being Productive: I will never settle for anything less than my best.
  • Being Proud: I will make Watervliet a better place through my words and my actions.

“These students embody everything it means to be a Cannoneer,” said Mr. Foust, “We thank families for everything you do on the home front — it is greatly appreciated.”
