WES Drama Club ends its season with skits and songs

Watervliet Elementary School’s Drama Club performed their Spring Showcase on May 30 — opening with the song “I’ve Got No Strings” from Pinocchio. Next four Drama Club members took turns reciting the poem “Homework! Oh, Homework” by Jack Prelutsky.

About a dozen students appeared in three short skits based on Aesop’s Fables, including The Boy Who Cried Wolf and The Hare and the Tortoise. The entire cast participated in a dance performance to the song “Never Had a Friend Like Me” from Aladdin, before closing with the song, “When I Grow Up” from the musical Matilda. Bravo to all aspiring actors, singers and dancers!

A shout-out also to the WES Art Club students and adviser Sara Mikula for set and costume design. Thank you to Drama Club co-directors Andrew Cowie and Allison Fried for sharing your talents and encouragement with students!
