Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) students presented nanoscience demonstrations and discussed the variety of ways that nanotechnology is applied in cell phones, video games, medical treatments and alternative energy, for example. Students and families also had opportunities to participate in hands-on STEM projects geared toward different grade levels.
Nanotechnology – in its simplest terms the study and application of really tiny things – is one of the most exciting and rapidly-growing areas of science and technology today. According to the National Science Foundation, nanotechnology jobs will require expertise ranging from two-year associate degrees to doctoral degrees.
