The smile on elementary student Adrian Sziller’s face was priceless as a familiar face unexpectedly walk into kindergarten teacher Tina Shufelt’s classroom earlier this week. Adrian’s Aunt Kornelia, who is a Staff Sargent in the Air Force stationed in Texas, decided to stop by Watervliet Elementary School as a surprise for her nephew. The two had not seen each other since a visit last summer.
If Aunt Kornelia looks familiar, it’s because she is a graduate of Watervliet High School’s Class of 2014, and was a star player on the girls’ basketball team under longtime coach Gordie Johnson. We are proud of this Cannoneer alum and her service to our country!
