The Watervliet City School District currently operates three full day UPK classrooms. All three classrooms are located at Watervliet Elementary School and employ Head Start teachers. The classrooms are staffed by NYS certified pre-K educators and teacher aides. Please explore the links to the right to learn more about our program and see our latest news.
Congratulations UPK graduates!
On Monday, June 23, Watervliet Elementary School hosted a Moving Up Day ceremony for its four Universal Pre-Kindergarten classes. Congratulations to all the graduates and their families. We'll welcome you back in the fall for kindergarten. Have a great summer! View photo gallery
UPK lottery update
As reported at the April 22 Board of Education meeting, the UPK lottery scheduled for April 28 will not be necessary. With the addition of a fourth UPK classroom in February, the district's prekindergarten program is currently able to accommodate all families with children who have applied. At this time, spots are still available. Please contact the UPK office at 518-629-3263 for information about registering students.
Some spaces still available in the new prekindergarten classroom for eligible 4-year-old children
The Watervliet City School District in collaboration with the Albany Community Action Partnership (ACAP) has added a fourth prekindergarten classroom to serve an additional 18 children from Watervliet families that meet eligibility requirements. Fourteen students had enrolled as of Monday, Feb. 24, in the expanded prekindergarten program at Watervliet Elementary School. Read more

WCSD anticipates adding a fourth UPK classroom in late January
The Watervliet School District is anticipating (based on receiving a New York State grant) that the district will be able to add a classroom to the UPK program at the end of January 2014. Read more
